The GCI Power Tools Performance Agents Suite is a collection of powerful agents for Livelink that both extend agent functionality and remove processing bottlenecks. The GCI Performance Agents Suite consists of the following:
The GCI Performance Agent is a base module that allows multiple workflow agents to be run for the same Livelink instance. Standard Livelink only allows for a single workflow agent to run against a single Livelink instance. Under heavy workflow usage, with many steps using the workflow agent for their processing, bottlenecks can occur when the agent falls behind performing time-consuming tasks. The GCI Performance Agent provides the ability to configure multiple workflow agents to run, each performing separate functions with specific schedules, providing intelligent load-balancing of these background tasks. For example, one PA can be set up to run once a minute for step send on processing and Item handler processing (these are background processes). The second PA can be set to run once an hour to clean the workflow editing volume. These PAs can also run on different machines in the cluster to gain an additional possible performance gain. Another example of Livelink workflow load balancing is to create two PAs when GCI Power Tools for Workflow (PTW) is installed — one to process the regular standard background processes like Step Send on Processing, Item Handler Processing, and Cleaning the Workflow editing volume (this can be set to run every 5 minutes or less), and one set to run any of the PTW processing itself, such as escalation of steps, event processing, event script processing, and step auto-completion. These PAs can run on different machines in the cluster to achieve additional performance gains. You can also divide PTW among five different PAs. The gains will be dependent on how much those features are used in your Livelink installation.
Do you run Livelink in a clustered environment, but still have volume or size issues with Livelink Notification and Livelink eLink? The GCI Performance Agent for Enhanced Messaging (PAEM) allows you to spread those processes across Livelink servers and manage & scale the volume and the size of Notification and eLink messages. PAEM adds the ability to scale high volume eLink traffic and/or large file attachments to eLink messages. PAEM also adds the ability to scale notifications and eLink agents across multiple Livelink servers to improve performance. These enhancements allow for increased usage of eLink and notification because process and size limitations are bypassed, thereby reducing the limitations on the volume and size of eLink messages.
