GCI PowerTools for Authority gives you rule-driven control over downloading, printing, emailing, and viewing inside OpenText Content Server.
Define sensitivity rules that automatically restrict how users interact with Content Server items. PowerTools for Authority helps organizations control downloading, printing, emailing, and viewer behavior based on business rules that match metadata, classifications, security levels, locations, and more.
Permissions define who can access content and what they can see, but not how that content is used. Once accessed, documents may still be downloaded, emailed, printed, or shared outside approved channels, creating risk that is difficult to monitor and even harder to prevent.
The result is inconsistent policy enforcement, greater exposure to risk, and an overreliance on users to do the right thing rather than on the system to enforce policy consistently.
PowerTools for Authority extends OpenText Content Server with configurable sensitivity rules that control how content is used, not just accessed. When an item matches defined criteria, specific user actions are automatically restricted based on business rules. This ensures policies are applied consistently, without relying on manual intervention or user judgement.
When used with PowerTools Viewer, dynamic watermarks can be applied to documents during viewing, printing, or PDF export. Watermarks can include username, login ID, date and time, and server details to discourage screen captures and help trace the source of exposed information.
